What you need to know before terminating a pregnancy

All mothers-to-be want a perfect baby. No one wants a baby who is deformed or handicapped in any way. It is as simple as that. So it is quite natural to feel a measure of shock and disbelief when the results of an amniocentesis test point towards a Downs syndrome baby. Most doctors will, without hesitation suggest a termination of the pregnancy, without saying anything about the nature of Downs syndrome people.

Most people are unaware of the nature of a Downs syndrome child - how they are full of love and kindness. The love that they radiate nearly always has a profound effect on the family they are born into. I have treated many of these children, and without exception they have helped their parents to realise what are the really important things in life; how love is more important than money or fame.  Ambitious parents become softer and kinder, and indeed much happier.

To sum up these lectures in a few words, you can expect the general health to get better so that they do not keep on getting coughs, colds and other respiratory tract infections. Possibly more important, treatment improves their digestion so much that they can absorb the amino acids so important for brain development and function. This helps to clear the fog in their brain so that they can think much more clearly, and can live a normal life. People think this isn’t possible, but it certainly is. Moreover, it isn’t just acupuncture that can have these wonderful effects, but also craniosacral therapy and a number of other “alternative” treatments.
