Floaters normally appear as blurred hairy objects in the field of view which move lazily around, as though floating in water. In fact that is more or less wht they are. To a greater or lesser extent they are present in most eyes, but people are normally unaware of them. This is because a healthy eye with enough energy processes them out of the field of view, so that although they are there they are not perceived by the brain.
When the Qi in the eye is low, either because of tiredness or eye strain, then these floaters become visible.
There is another type of floater which is bigger and more visible. This type is due to larger clumps of cells falling off the choroid (the inside of the eye). It is quite normal for cells from the choroid to fall off, but they should not be so large, and above all, they should disappear. They should be dissolved by the fluid in the eye. Another way of looking at it is that the cells should be ‘digested’ by the fluids in the eye. This points to the body imbalance causing the problem, namely an imbalance of the digestion. Typically this imbalance is caused by long periods of mental work, or a work schedule which calls for irregular hours and hard work. (This includes looking after a young baby. There are not many jobs that are harder work than that of a mother!)
